SO.....
Finally a late summer break.
To Cornwall, though not sunny!!
In Lostwithiel for a week. We have a rather "cute" little shack, shed - not sure what else you would call it! See pics.
1st night drove into centre (raining) and found the restaurant (Trewithens) we used to go to years ago with my suppliers when I was the DIY buyer at Trago Mills. It's changed hands and is pretty expensive, but lucky for us the owners have opened a Tapas Bistro and bar across the road, so we ate there. The beef briskett to die for! And salmon cured in beetroot, great too.
Went to the local "Farmers Market" in town on Sat, which is held in the Scout Hut! Not a patch on Farnham (market not scout hut), but that did not stop me trying to get discounts as a "scouter" - ho, ho. Got a couple of bottles of local beer and a long chat with the owner about Hogs Back and so on. Did some shopping in St Austell and went to the Par "Market".
Weird place. I got the impression someone is trying to copy Trago Mills a bit. A complete mismatch of traders selling weird products! Though the veg stand was pretty good.
Meeting with friends at the Llanhydrock Hotel and Golf club for luch today (Sunday) - too wet for a round! Plan to "do" the house itself at some stage and make use of the old codgers discount.
St Austell (those of "Proper Job" ale) and Sharps (Doombar) brewery next on the list!
